Start with the job, not the word “robot”
A person searching for a cleaning robot might want cleaner floors, help with laundry, or somebody to take responsibility for a complete house clean. Those needs should not be bundled into one promise.
Manufacturers already offer machines described as robot vacuums and mops; iRobot’s product range is one example of this floor-focused category. That category is different from a humanoid intended to handle objects and move through a space designed for people. This guide is a comparison framework, not a recommendation of a particular product.
Three questions to separate the options

What humanoid demonstrations establish
Figure’s January 2026 Helix 02 announcement describes an autonomous four-minute dishwasher task. That manufacturer report is meaningful evidence to examine, but it does not by itself establish a complete bathroom clean or reliable performance across unfamiliar Australian homes.
The distinction matters. Putting dishes away, removing soap residue and achieving a hygienic result are separate tasks. We would define the required finish and test it repeatedly, including the preparation and recovery work.
A checklist for a Perth household
- Write down exactly which jobs you want help with.
- Ask what is autonomous and what requires a person.
- Count your own preparation and maintenance time.
- Confirm who provides support and handles damage or failures.
- Compare the full recurring cost with the work actually completed.
