NEO in Australia: questions to ask before making plans — HHA editorial title graphic

Read the operating model, not just the imagery

On its product page, 1X describes NEO’s early capabilities and a scheduled Expert Mode, in which a remote expert can assist with unfamiliar tasks. The manufacturer’s page is the appropriate starting point for current product claims. This guide does not confirm an Australian delivery date, local price or service coverage.

Our interpretation: the important question is how a particular household job gets completed in practice. “Autonomous” needs to be tied to a task and a set of conditions. Human assistance can be useful, but the customer should understand when it is involved.

Five questions to put to the supplier

  1. Australian supply: Can the supplier confirm delivery to your address, in writing, and the terms that apply?
  2. Task coverage: Which jobs are currently supported, with what limitations and preparation?
  3. Human involvement: When is remote help needed, who provides it and how is it scheduled and charged?
  4. Information access: What can a remote operator see or hear, what is recorded and how can access be stopped?
  5. Local support: Who repairs the robot, supplies parts and resolves a failure in Western Australia?

Why a headline price is incomplete

Build your own cost comparison around the written offer. Separate purchase or subscription charges, delivery, setup, ongoing support and the time you spend preparing or supervising tasks. Do not treat an overseas advertised amount as a landed Australian quote.

A useful trial records both the work completed and the interruptions. Ten minutes of impressive activity is not the same thing as a dependable weekly household routine.

Our position

HHA is independent of 1X and has no announced NEO supply agreement. We are following the technology while developing our own evidence-based approach to an Australian service. If you have a practical household use case, you can email us; this is not a booking or reservation.
